| How To Be An Award Winner |
|
Make The Right Choice – With so many awards schemes it’s important that you choose the one(s) that best match your industry, stage of business and values. Think about your business’s strengths and choose the awards accordingly. This has been proven to increase your chances of winning. Don’t limit yourself to one award – the more you enter the more chance you have of winning, but make sure you have time to enter high quality applications otherwise it will be a waste of time.
"Being a finalist is a great achievement, and you should make the most of it!"
Careful Planning – You’ll need to plan your entry with care, studying the awards closely including looking at the judges, previous winners and the entry criteria. Make sure you know exactly what information is required, when and in what format. The judges will be looking for proof to back up any claims you make, so anything you can submit to support your entry will help enormously. Also, answer all the judges’ questions. This is not a pick and choose exercise and if you want to be in with a chance of winning the judges will need to see all the information they have requested. However, you need to write clearly and concisely leaving out technical jargon the judges may not understand. In The Finals – If you make it to the final stage be sure to thank the organisers and share the good news with your team and the media. Also, up-date your website, marketing material and social networking sites your company has. Being a finalist is a great achievement, and you should make the most of it! Of course, you also need to find out what else is required at this stage, be it an interview with the judges or further information. The Awards Ceremony – There is usually a ceremony, which you must attend if at all possible, but if not then do send a company representative. Make sure you know what to expect at the ceremony, prepare a brief thank you speech, don’t drink too much and, importantly, enjoy it! |
